LeFiell Makes Inc. 5,000 List
Named to Inc. Top 25 Oldest Companies
NEW YORK, August 23, 2007 — Inc. magazine today announced its first-ever Inc. 5,000
list of fastest growing private companies and Reno, Nev., LeFiell Company debuted at
number 4,925.
LeFiell Company was founded in 1910 in San Francisco, and moved to Reno in 1994.
The manufacturing company made the expanded Inc. list for the first time and was also
honored as one of the Top 25 Oldest Companies of the Inc. 5,000.
According to LeFiell president B. Stephen Schmidt, “This is quite the accomplishment
for our company and we are honored to be included on the Inc. list. This is a testament
to our clients and employees, as well as the LeFiell heritage of the past 97 years.”
“The Inc. 5,000 provides the most comprehensive look ever at the most
important part of the economy – the entrepreneurial part,” said Inc. 5,000 project
manager Jim Melloan. “The expansion of the list has allowed us to tell the stories of
larger companies, older companies, and a wealth of companies in industries like
manufacturing and construction that are underreported in the business
media.”
According to the Small Business Administration’s website, in 2006 there were 26.8
million small businesses and 5.9 million firms operating with employees. Inc. measured
small business growth from 2003 to 2006 by U.S. companies that were privately held
and independent (not subsidiaries).
LeFiell Company is a precision engineering, fabricating and manufacturing company
based near the Reno-Stead Airport. The company is a world-leading provider of meat
processing equipment and overhead rail systems. LeFiell’s overhead rail transportation
systems are also used in the industrial laundry, manufacturing and industrial painting
trades.
