LeFiell Completes Project for Smithfield Foods
RENO, Nev. Aug. 6, 2007 — LeFiell Company of Reno, Nev., announced today completion
of an overhead rail and conveyor system for Smithfield Foods’ newest plant in Kingston,
N.C. The project consists of an overhead rail system with 3,000 pound capacity rail
switches, an indexing conveyor, blast chill conveyors and a customized drop track
system, in Smithfield’s Virginia ham and boneless ham operations.
The Kingston plant is Smithfield’s second plant in the city and their newest operation.
Smithfield Foods is the world’s largest pork product processor and is on the exclusive
list of Fortune’s America’s Most Admired Companies.
According to Joe Gonzales, vice president of operations at LeFiell, Smithfield and LeFiell
have worked together since Smithfield’s inception in 1936 as the original Smithfield
Packing plant in Smithfield, Va. LeFiell, the world leader in overhead rail systems for
