| April 2, 2001 Meat Industry Executive to Receive Nevada's "Small Business Exporter of the Year Award" for 2001 On March 23, 2001, the U.S. Small Business Administration announced that Steve Schmidt, President of LeFiell Company of Reno, would receive the SBA's "Small Business Exporter of the Year Award 2001" for the state of Nevada. Chosen from among applicants throughout the state of Nevada, Mr. Schmidt was selected because of LeFiell's outstanding 600% increase in export sales during the end of the 20th century, which won LeFiell Nevada Governor Kenny Guinn's "Northern Nevada Exporter of the Year Award" in 1999 and his extensive civic activities that are related to international business development. Mr. Schmidt is President of the Nevada World Trade Council and chairperson of the board of the International Resource Center of Northern Nevada. He is also a member of the U.S. Department of Commerce sponsored Nevada District Export Council. The three non-profit groups are charged with developing programs to improve international business opportunities for Nevada businesses. The National Meat Association also named Mr. Schmidt Supplier of the Year in 1999 for his exemplary services to the meat industry. |
